Tour Schedule

Day1: Start Paddling on the Great Yukon River!

We will meet you at your accommodation in downtown Whitehorse. (Please let us know if you would like us to arrange accommodations for you.) After a brief introduction, we will head out of town to Lake Laberge, the starting point of our trip! From here, we will load our gear and canoes onto a motor boat to go to the other end of the lake where the Yukon River continues to flow. We will show you the basics of paddling on the lake before paddling on the river.

Packed with all the camping gear and food we will need for the next 5 days, we will start paddling down the river. The first part of the journey goes through the area called "Thirty Mile" which is registered as Canadian Heritage River for its unique beauty and Gold Rush history. You may see some wildlife such as bald eagles and moose along the way.
After some time paddling, we will land at our first camping spot and pitch our tents to make our "home" in the wilderness. Relax on the bank of the river before eating a delicious campfire meal using healthy and locally produced ingredients (as much as is possible). Enjoy your first night camped out in the wilderness!

You will occasionally see some remains of the Yukon's past including gold dredge equipment. We will pull over onto shore to have a closer look and eat lunch.
Get back in your canoe, we've got more to see and do. This part of the river has some prime fishing locations. Cast your lure or fly and catch Arctic Grayling that your guide can cook up for dinner later. Another night to enjoy food and fun as you camp under the midnight sun.

Day3: Enjoy Campfire Right in the Wilderness!

Breakfast will be prepared for you again. We will break camp and begin our third day of paddling

By this time, most guests are getting a handle on the art of paddling. There is nothing like packing all necessary equipment and food in a small vessel and travelling down a river further into the wilderness. Along the way, try your luck by casting a lure to try to catch northern pike! Pike are abundant in some areas of the Yukon River and your guide knows just where the right fishing holes are located. This fish is great battered and deep fried! Hopefully you catch some so your guide can add it to dinner this night. While you wait for dinner, enjoy just being in nature.
