Tour Schedule

Day1: Paddling on the Yukon River! Camping at a Comfortable Campground in Whitehorse.

We will meet you at your accommodation in downtown Whitehorse. (Please let us know if you would like us to arrange accommodations for you.) After a brief introduction, we will head out of town to the starting point for the first day of paddling!

We will begin our paddling adventure with either Canadian canoe or kayak on the Yukon River. This wild river runs 3000km through the Yukon and Alasaka and out to the Bering Sea. Whitehorse is close to the upper most part of the river and the water is a clear blue/green colour. While paddling, you may see a large nest on a tree which belongs to a pair of bald eagles who nest at the same spot nearly every year. You might also see a big splash on the river, which is created by the slap of a beaver tail. They do this when alarmed by the presence of human beings. As you will experience, being in the wilderness while close to the city is one of the biggest charms of the Yukon!

After having lunch on the bank of the Yukon River, we will paddle on to historic and scenic Miles Canyon. Thousands of gold seekers passed through this area on on to the Klondike during the Gold Rush of 1898. After landing on Schwatka Lake, we will head to the campground that is situated at the edge of downtown Whitehorse near the Yukon River. It is possible to see bald eagles fishing or arctic terns that have travelled all the way from the Antarctica to spend summer in the Yukon. Your guides will help you put up your tents and you can spend the evening at the campground which is equipped with coin operated showers, and it even has a coffee stand. !

tNt guide will cook you handmade "Northern meals" for your dinner while enjoying the campfire and coversation.

You may wish to take a stroll around part or all of the 4.4 Millennium Trail that leaves the campground to skirt the Yukon River. At around 11:00, a tNt guide will come to help you take down your tent and drive you to downtown Whitehorse. We will eat lunch at our favourite place, the very popular gold rush themed restaurant, The Klondike Rib & Salmon. "Klondike Rib and Salmon.
After spending some time sightseeing and shopping, we will put in our canoes and/or kayaks into the Yukon River right from downtown Whitehorse. This time we will paddle for a half day to the confluence of the Takhini River. For those who love fishing, you can try your luck casting a fishing line to try to catch northern fish such as Arctic Grayling. Once at the Takhini River, we will get in our van and head to the Takhini Hot Spring PoolHot Spring Pool to relax your muscles!

After the soak in the healing waters of the Takhini hot springs, it will be time to say good-bye to your tNt guides and for you to keep enjoying your trip in the North!
